Growing up on a family farm in rural Washington at the heart of the Yakama Nation Reservation, Brandon Riel was exposed to creative storytelling through theatrical and deeply steeped cultural communication. He has worked with a growing list of production houses including Seattle Opera, Village Theatre, The Jones Playhouse, Taproot Theatre Company, Youth Theatre Northwest, and Forward Flux Productions. Riel is a graduate of Seattle Pacific University with a BA in Theatre Performance and is completing his MFA in Scenic Design at The University of Washington School of Drama in June. While at UW, he studied for two years under the late, Tony-nominated scenographer, Skip Mercier. He has also assisted Tony Award winning designer, Todd Rosenthal, and award-winning designer, Andrew Boyce. In addition to his work in the theatre, Riel collaborates closely in photography and fine art design with award winning photographer, Matthew W. Kennelly.
