Saloni Mahajan is an international costume designer and fashion stylist based in Los Angeles. Born and raised in India, she finished her undergraduate education in fashion styling and image design from Pearl Academy, New Delhi. During that time, she was also part of several Bollywood feature films, which shifted her interest from fashion to the character-based work that cinema requires. Her decision to learn and be trained as a professional costume designer led her to the master’s program at UCLA TFT. Mahajan will graduate from the program in June with a focus on cinema. Mahajan also has experience designing for theater, dance, commercials and music videos. Her interest also lies in exploring the relationship between performance, culture, technology and science. During the pandemic, she collaborated with UCLA TFT and Henry Samueli School of Engineering under the UCLA Center of Research in Engineering, Media & Performance to successfully produce costumes for an augmented reality and immersive theater project.
