Originally from Vashti, Texas, Specht recently received her MFA in costume design and technology. She previously earned her BA with honors in theatre technology from West Texas A&M University. Her time in Texas offered her valuable experiences, including the opportunity to work with local theaters and to spend a summer studying fashion in Florence, Italy. Some of Specht’s most recent designs include La Cambiale de Matrimonio (UMKC Conservatory Opera) and No Man’s Land (Amarillo Little Theatre), as well as costumes for Black Future, a dance performance choreographed by Michael Blake. When she isn’t designing, Specht continues to perfect her techniques in millinery, painting and glove making while pursuing her interests in travel and antiquing. She will be spending Summer 2021 as a member of the millinery team at the Santa Fe Opera.
