Ebony Burton
Lighting Design, New York University, she/her
Ebony M. Burton is an Oakland-born, Brooklyn-based lighting designer and art-maker. After graduating from Oberlin College with a BA in psychology, her career interests shifted from research to design. She spent several years freelancing as an electrician/head electrician off-broadway and designing for theater and dance in NYC before deciding to attend graduate school and focus on honing her skills as an artist. She received her MFA in design from NYU Tisch. Burton spends what little free time her schedule allows brainstorming evocative methods of storytelling and ways of challenging traditional notions of what a play can be.
