Amy Chiao is a multimedia artist, performer, designer and director. She works in site-specific performance installation, video performance, collage, material design and virtual streaming platform experiences. Based in Los Angeles, Chiao comes from a family of Cantonese musicians and composers, opera singers and mannequin manufacturers. She holds a BFA in textiles from Rhode Island School of Design and recently graduated from Cal Arts with an MFA in scene design with a concentration in integrated media. Chiao’s current research and bodies of work explore the art of sales persuasion through consumer insights, the creation of business marketing characters, and absurdist lifestyle design products.
